Submit a Manuscript

How to submit a manuscript to The Practical Medicine, including what to include, submission format, and what happens after submission.

How to Submit

The Practical Medicine currently accepts manuscript submissions by email. Please read the Author Guidelines and Manuscript Preparation pages in full before submitting. Submissions that do not comply with the journal's requirements will be returned to authors without review.

To submit your manuscript, send all required files to:

Use the following subject line format:

Submission — [Article Type] — [Abbreviated Title]

For example: Submission — Original Research — Cardiovascular outcomes in type 2 diabetes

What to Include

Please attach all of the following in a single email:

1. Cover Letter

Your cover letter must be included as a separate Word or PDF document. It should include:

  • The article type and full title
  • A 2–3 sentence statement of the significance and novelty of the work
  • Confirmation that the manuscript has not been submitted or published elsewhere, in whole or in part
  • Confirmation that all authors have approved the submission
  • Confirmation that all ethical requirements have been met (IRB approval, informed consent, trial registration where applicable)
  • Suggested reviewers (3–5 names with affiliations and email addresses; optional but encouraged)
  • Names of any individuals who should be excluded from peer review, with reasons

2. Main Manuscript

A single Word document (.doc or .docx) containing:

  • Title page
  • Abstract and keywords
  • Main text
  • Declarations section
  • References
  • Tables (at end of document)
  • Figure legends (at end of document)

3. Figures

Each figure submitted as a separate image file at a resolution sufficient for clear reproduction.

4. Reporting Guideline Checklist

The completed checklist appropriate to your study type (CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, CARE, etc.). Checklists are available from the EQUATOR Network (www.equator-network.org).

5. Supplementary Material (if applicable)

Any supplementary tables, figures, or data files should be labelled clearly and attached separately.

After Submission

Authors are notified by email at each stage of the process. Please ensure that weopenaccess@gmail.com is added to your email contact list to prevent correspondence from being filtered as spam.

Revision Submission

When submitting a revised manuscript, please send a new email to weopenaccess@gmail.com using the subject line:

Revision — [Original Reference Number] — [Abbreviated Title]

Your revision email must include:

  • The revised manuscript with tracked changes enabled
  • A clean version of the revised manuscript (no tracked changes)
  • A point-by-point response letter addressing each reviewer comment

The Practical Medicine is an actively growing journal in its founding year. We warmly welcome submissions across all areas of biomedical and clinical medicine. All articles accepted in 2026 are published free of charge under our founding year APC waiver. We look forward to working with you.
